THE MINISTRIES

The Dome of Canaan Baptist Church's organizational pattern is constructed around ministries. There are 5 major ministries, divided into sub-ministries. The major ministries are led by coordinators, with the exception of the Minsters' Ministry which is led by the pastor. The sub-ministries are led by directors.

The Ministers’ Ministry (Pastor Theodore R. Little, Jr.)
The Pastor, Assistant Pastor, and Associate Ministers make up this ministry. Its objectives are to provide:
- a forum for discussion among ministers
- opportunity for learning the role of pastor, assistant pastor, and associates
- schedules for assignments throughout the year

The Fellowship of Deacon and Deacon Ministry (Deacon John W. Rollins, Coordinator)
This ministry is comprised of biblically ordained deacons and their wives. The objectives are:
- maintaining contact with the membership through ministry teams according alphabetical breakdown
- preparing the communion elements and assisting the pastor in serving the congregation

The Worship Ministry (Rev. Charles L. Flynn, Coordinator)
This ministry’s main objective is to implement assigned tasks through the following ministries the:
- Sunday Worship Service
- Music Ministry
- Hospitality Ministry
- A-V Ministry
- Ushers' Ministry
- Praise and Testimony Ministry
- Special Occasions Ministry (Weddings, Funerals, Revivals, and non-scheduled ministries)

The Christian Education Ministry (Rev. Lisa M. Little, Coordinator)
The primary function of this ministry is to provide teaching and leadership training throughout the congregational. This is achieve through:
- New Members’ Ministry
- Church School Ministry
- Bible Study Ministry
- Canaan Hour of Commitment (CHOC)
- Leadership/Retreat Training Ministry
- Youth Ministry

The Evangelistic Outreach Ministry (Sister Shirley S. Little, Coordinator)
Reaching out beyond the congregation is the basic objective of this ministry. This is accomplished through the:
- Evangelism Ministry (using D. James Kennedy’s Evangelism Explosion model)
- Jail and Detention Ministry
- Prayer Warriors/Nursing Home Ministry
- Noonday Prayer (First/Second Saturday) Ministry
- Ecumenical Outreach Ministry
- Family Ministry
- African American Heritage Ministry
- Fourth of July Fellowship Ministry
- Food Ministry
- Clothing Ministry
- Home Missions Ministry
- Widow/Widower Ministry

The Facility Operations Ministry (Deacon Clarence Locker, Coordinator)
This ministry is responsible for the normal upkeep and improvement of the building, grounds, and personnel. This is achieved through the:
- Early Morning Worker’s Ministry
- Building Ministry
- Grounds’ Ministry
- Transportation Ministry
- Finance Ministry
- Office Ministry
